The school aims:
Gourock High School has recently revisited and updated its school aims and working together with pupils and parents have produced a statement of what Gourock High School believes to be important. These can be viewed by following the link on this page. You can also find a copy of the most recent inspection report by HMIe by looking in the downloads area of this page.
The school motto is 'Honor Diligentiae Praemium' which means 'The Reward for hard work is renown'. This motto reflects one of our main aims of promoting the intellectual development of our pupils through appropriate and relevant teaching activities and resources. However we also aim to develop within our students, the life skills for healthy living, citizenship and enterprise . Through our links with the local community and beyond, we actively aim to help all of our students become a valued member of society.
Links with our neighbouring schools:
The school has established strong links with its two associated primary schools (Gourock Primary and Moorfoot Primary) with teachers from the English, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Science, Technical and ICT departments working throughout the year alongside the primary pupils and their teachers. In June of each year, the primary pupils come to the school for a two day visit.
Gourock High School also links closely with the other secondary schools in Inverclyde, offering a range of courses for senior students as part of the consortium arrangments. It has established community projects such as the 'Concert for the Elderly' in conjunction with St Columbas' High School.
